Mankato, MN (rightcommentary.com): What is needed during this all important election cycle is a logical argument for seeing our commitment in Iraq out to the end. I do not believe that concrete reasons are being made by John McCain at this time. While his message is correct, it has been the same message for months. Of course, having the same message and not swaying from it is seminal, however, when conveying that message using the same vernacular, it quickly wears on people like a broken record.

The Democrats are obsessed with how the rest of the world views us and ‘repairing our image.’ We can take advantage of this by pointing out obvious realities of their future plans. First, let’s recall how the Arab world outside of Iraq viewed our invasion in the beginning. The Arabs were looking for a reason to support us at the start of the war. They supported us in Gulf War I because they thought our reasons were valiant in removing the Iraqis from Kuwait. This time the reasons we went were also valient but they turned out to be untrue. This, of course, is a source of great debate now. Personally I completely agree that the intelligence community was misled with false information. Remember, British intelligence had the same intel upon which we acted. That aside, commentators in Arab countries lugubriously opined the fact we crashed through the front door without a good reason. They longed to openly support us and, had the intel been right, I believe they would have coalesced and rallied around us. There’s nothing that they can do now but wait and watch. What they are watching now is the presidential campaign. They are watching the Democrats promising to withdraw expeditiously without regard for security in the region. If we leave precipitously, chaos will almost certainly follow. A power vacuum will be left and the streets will run red with the blood of innocent Iraqis. If you think Muslims hate us now, just you wait. When the Middle East is in a maelstrom of a regional civil war and we’re back at home building windmills and bike paths, how do you think we will look to the rest of the world then? The Jihadists will have a much greater desire and motivation to attack and kill us. Our willingness to see it out to the end will benefit us greatly and enhance our relations with our Arab allies and create new ones. Otherwise our image will be in much worse shape and would completely invalidate the supposed altruistic motives of the Democrats. This is the message that I believe needs to be trumpeted in a clear, concise, persistent way.

The Democrats are only using their promises of bringing home the troops as political leverage and are too short sighted to see the grave consequences of leaving too soon. I think this is, while not an original message, an important one that I do not believe is being conveyed in a fresh, relatable, sapient manner that can win us this election and this war.

Mankato, Mn (rightcommentary.com): The Republican party must unite in the common cause of getting things done that people actually want done. We need to gather ourselves and ask what is important. We must ask ‘what are we supposed to for the people as stated in the Constitution?’ Not, ‘I wonder what I can do for people even though they don’t ask for it or, for that matter, ever even thought of it?’ The latter, of course is more in line with DFL dogma. The government of this country was created for only a few things and not the massive bureaucracy that we have had for too long. The first task for the federal government is to raise a military and provide security for its people. The second is to build and maintain infrastructure. The third is to provide police and fire services. This includes the courts and the laws of the land. The forth and last, yes last, is to provide a gold backed monetary banking system. That’s it. No more, no less. No school funding, no monument erecting, no wealth redistribution via windfall profit taxes, no health care, no federally run pension programs, no hand outs to those who do not earn their own way…you get the idea. These tasks must be kept in mind when crafting tax policy and budgets.

The gold standard in conservative ideology is a sapient tax and spending policy. The budget before Congress exceeds 1 trillion dollars with massive tax hikes to come down the road. It’s amusing to watch the Democratic presidential candidates promise not to raise taxes. It will be interesting to watch the attempted sleight of hand when this is explained to their uninformed throng of soldiers. All Republican candidates at all levels must beat this into the ground. The biggest tax hike in history is around the corner should we lose the White House. The Republicans must stop wasting valuable time and take a stand against the waste. This includes the 100 Republicans who voted for that white elephant, the farm bill. If you’re that afraid of your constituents then you need a new constituency. This includes standing up against bailing out homeowners who can’t pay their bills and don’t bother to read 30 year contracts, like mortgage papers. Hey, I’m just getting by… will they pay for my mortgage?

Lets stick to these principles, our principles. Lets win.
