My guess for Barracks “uber” speech here in Iowa
Washington, D.C. (rightcommentary.com): Like you - I’m sitting here watching the campaign coverage. Surprise surprise - Hillary pummeled Obama. I had no doubt she would. However, everyone is now watching what Sen. Obama will say at his “campaign” stop in Iowa.
This is what I suspect he will say tonight. First, I expect some remarks about Teddy (Sen. Edward Kennedy, D-MA) and his announcement that he has brain cancer. I’m sure that Sen. Obama will pay homage to his early supporter.
Secondly, it will be a discussion about change… and hope… and a better tomorrow. How NOBODY thought he’d make it this far. How the pundits thought he was a joke… and how IOWA showed everyone - no, I am the real deal… it’s about hope… YES WE CAN.
Third, he’ll talk about all the states he won, all the popular votes he got, and how they played the game and beat the competitors at their own game. How the “integrity of the process” must be maintained. How Obama wants to see Florida and Michigan and that he will get many of those delegates.
Fourth, I expect him to announce he’s reached 2026 delegates and that he believes he is the de facto nominee under any circumstance. He’ll announce he’s got X pledged delegates and he’ll announce probably 30-40 or more new Supers (who may be there to join him tonight).
Fifth, he’ll talk about how they have to move forward - and resolve the issues. Because - it’s about hope… and change… and a better tomorrow.
I have no doubt Hillary will have a cranial explosion over that statement - and her surrogates and probably even Ms. Clinton herself - will be all over the airways saying “oh it’s not over… not by a long shot…” But by then, she’ll have lost the initiative - and the whole race will no longer be about delegates, or can Hillary win. The debate will be - is this contest finally over.
This is my guess - the stage seems primed for this type of announcement. Sen. Obama may beg off and not go as far as declaring himself the nominee - depending on the early results in Oregon - however - I think he’ll be pretty bold and try to drive the final nail in the coffin on Clinton tonight.
I predicted on February 22 this race was over. My predictions were essentially proven correct. Clinton lost the nomination on Super Tuesday. The only thing that happens tonight is that Obama picks up the mantle and says… YES I CAN.
We’ll know soon enough. ![]()

All:
Well - I was pretty close. I had heard he was going to declare himself to be the heir apparent. He didn’t do that - but he came close.
However, the DNC committee is going to meet at the end of May… and with Obama at 2025+…. it’s fair to say it’s over.
Plus, this morning, we see Hillary’s debt numbers at $31M. She can’t continue. It’s over for her.
