McCain - Sex- Real Men - and “you fight like a girl”
Washington, D.C. (Rightcommentary.com) A disturbing trend is emerging I have noticed among both “conservative” and “liberal” women I know and talk to - both in the “real world” and in the “virtual world” of the blogosphere and the internet. The theme of the comments I hear is essentially this - where have all the “real men” gone in the Republican party.
What prompted this today, for me to rethink this issue, was a comment that I heard from a rather conservative woman colleague at work about Sen. McCain’s “distancing” from the commercial that the Republican Party of North Carolina is running about Sen. Obama. What she said to me was, “He needs to grow up and be a man - politics is dirty - and trying to play ‘nice’ with everyone will give the Democrats the White House.” She then launched into what I can only describe as what must have been a cathartic experience for her - in telling me how Republican men all seem emasculated to her in attempting to show a “kindler gentler” side, versus showing leadership and accepting accountability.
Okay - she’s one person. I’ve heard this before, in some variant or another, that essentially “men won’t be men” in the Republican party. I even hear it more generally. Most blatantly was a comment that still sticks with me of “If I wanted to be with a woman - I’d be a lesbian,” essentially arguing that, despite the “women are from Venus men are from Mars,” issue - some women want the arrogance, audacity, stupidity, and decisiveness that are often treated as weaknesses in men in the “media.” All of us have to be “metrosexual” now - what cologne, what outfit, etc. When I was at the Pentagon this week - one woman who has definitely given her fair share for the Party and the cause - said, “the problem is - no more men have balls in this Party - and McCain is a pansy.”
Wow. Well - actually she didn’t say pansy - it rhymes with “wussy” - but you get the idea.
A fellow conservative blogger, whom I read routinely because her writing and personal honesty I find gripping, wrote this tonight in her blog at The Hill Chronicals:
I did not have the heart today write another Obama article or Clinton one for that matter. I could have written on McCain, but he bores the hell out me so why waste my time. It is just so hard getting behind a candidate that came back from hell. Some days it is just not enough to support McCain because he supports the war on terror. That is not good enough for me anymore. His whiny puss act of self-righteousness is fake and sickening. Every time someone says or does something that could be seen as negative here he comes folks, McCain in the blink of an eye….”I did not endorse that” or “I do not approve of that.” Make up your mind man do you want to win or lose?
Where are the real men these days. The women are running around The Hill like chickens with the heads cut off and the men up their are continually whining like a bunch of two-year -old babies that did not get their way. Who is running this country for G-d sake?
Another blogger friend of mine, Velvet Hammer, recently told me a similar thing in a private conversation.
Now, while I said I’d try to keep the postings more high-brow after my posting on “Republican Porn” (which by the way is a disturbing fact that thus far, it is by far the most well-read post on this website - with over 200 visitors a day to it) I can’t forget a report that GQ Magazine claimed to have conducted about two years ago. The finding, essentially, was that Democratic men were wimps in the bedroom.
The anonymous author, who wrote the piece for “GQ” reports “After years of intensive research on both sides of the aisle, I’m here to report that Republican men are infinitely better to have sex with.”
The article in the April 2006 issue of “GQ” laid out 10 reasons why Republicans are better and kinkier in the sack.
The thing that caught my eye tonight - as I went back to re-read the article - was that the author makes the point that men who don’t decide or proclaim where you’re having dinner are wusses. And there’s nothing less appealing than a wuss. “A Republican man will never, ever cry,” she writes.
So being a Republican apparently means - never having to say you’re sorry. (Or crying for that matter) I guess it also means - dammit woman we’re going to Macroni Grill - and you’ll be having the chicken! (Smacking my chest and making Tim Allen “grunt” noises).
An interesting proposition… probably not entirely accurate - but something is up here.
Back to Sen. McCain for a second - Democratic National Committee Chairman Howard Dean is calling out McCain to get the commercial stopped. I find it highly amusing that a man who can’t control his own party - is calling on the CANDIDATE (not even the chair) of the opposition party - whining, “make it stop - make it stop.”
I understand the idea that Sen. McCain wants to hold himself to. Mark Levin, tonight on his radio show, excoriated McCain. That isn’t particularly newsworthy - except for the fact that Levin concluded that McCain’s “wimpyness” on this commercial came from his lack of adherence to the Republican party.
So Sen. McCain is getting it from everyone - women think he’s a wuss (or at least the women I seem to run into). Men think he’s a wuss. Democrats - who are also “wusses” (within the confines of the discourse that seems to be setting itself up here) - want McCain to do something about it. Apparently - everyone’s become a total namby pamby. (Except me of course - while I maintain this erudite exterior - I unfortunately say things that often make women question whether I’ve evolved much from Neanderthal.)
Is it any wonder that McCain and the RNC are having such a hard time raising funds? In an environment where Republicans and Democrats seem virtually indistinguishable in their attitudes (and in their policies) - can we really be shocked a the lack of enthusiasm my friend Layla exasperatingly writes in her blog post?
Most important - perhaps - shall we as Republicans sit idly by and let “Barrack Obama - the man, the myth, the legend” go unchallenged? The Republican Party in North Carolina genuinely feels that Obama is inconsistent with the views of North Carolinians. The commercial is by no means a “swift boat” ad - it is factual and compelling in how it is told. Moreover, it is no more the place for John McCain to tell the party what to do, than it is for the Party to tell McCain how to govern when he is elected President.
And it would be a tragedy for Republicans to abandon their spine under the guise of appealing to a warped sense of decorum. William F. Buckley managed to point out the lunacy of the left - while always maintaining his decorum and respect for the adversary and national politics. While I am personally not in favor of attacking the man, Barrack Obama, it is perfectly legitimate to question his contacts, his values, his beliefs, and any other variable, that is reflected in his policy judgments. The NC Republican Commercial may be a blunt instrument in that regard - however - it is a valid argument to raise.
I don’t think McCain is a wuss. I think the man does stand for principles. I think he is an honorable man.
But one thing that is for certain - he’s definitely not John Wayne.
I suppose - we all long for a day when men were men, women were women, and the good guys wore white hats.
Now saddle up pilgrims - and let’s go find us some spine!

Great post!
What is sad is that the left would have us believe that in those days where gender roles were clearly defined, all the men were abusing and oppressing their women.
I believe that there is probably MORE abuse happening now in our “progressive” society than ever before, as far as relationships between men and women are concerned, and a lot of unhappiness revolving around gender identity and what roles men and women play.
Thank you for the kind words and not only giving me the linkage but quoting my humble writing. I am honored.
The defining line between gender in todays society is becoming more blurred. For instance in the educational system, boys are being emasculated. It is all about feelings and sensitivities. Why I wonder. To fight against the evil right who would themselves stand up and fight for their country and what it is supposed to stand for. Not some whiny wienie land populated by a bunch of mindless drones.
As far as the “kindler and gentler McCain goes. It does not impress me in the least. We NEED a strong leader. Not some girly man impersonating a liberal wuss.
The Dem race has been a mud slinging affair. Maybe McCain is trying to take the high road. High road be damned! I want a leader with grit!
Obama can not win or we as a country will spiral downward to a place that some of us do not want to ever see. Politics is a dirty business. He jumped in, so he should either take what ‘truth’ is thrown at him or go back to being a non-participant in the Senate.

Darn I forgot to thank you for the link.
Thanks!
Oh my am I chatty tonight. See what you get. lol
Speaking of McCain
This just in.
“I will be Hamas’ worst nightmare.”
Ok I take back some of what I said. He must of been peeking in.
Velvet:
Always a pleasure - you know that…
And yes - I saw that too re: McCain.
While I don’t doubt his intentions - Talk is cheap. Bush promised to pull the US all out of its international engagements…
Then 9-11 happened…
And if Sen. McCain is reading this (and I do have readers on the Hill and in the WH mind you)… Hey! Have your CoS call me and I’d be happy to provide you my analytical talents on less public forum…
HA!
Oh, Lord. I hope we don’t get into navel-gazing mode. The difference, for me, in a “real man” vs a wimp is the same difference in a “real woman” vs. a wimp. “Real” means doing something about a problem, regardless of approach. I say this as a woman inclined however towards Southern men. Here we still have a portion of our culture intact. Nothing, in my opinion, is as boring as a man or woman who over-thinks something. That’s what got us into this damned mess to start with and I can actually trace it to some actions taken by FDR and afterwards, to some of the bs that emerged when Kennedy took office. Lord.
best! Kay
