Ma Ying-jeou asks “Hey? Where are the batteries we ordered? All we have here are nuclear missile parts!”
(Washington, D.C. - Rightcommentary.com) All I can say is - holly cow! We accidentally sent nuclear missile parts to Tiawan? Then - it took the Pentagon a year to figure it out - with the Tiawanese prodding us?
“We’ll do a thorough investigation, and those who are responsible will be held accountable. The secretary is quite forceful on this,” said Ryan Henry, Principal Deputy Undersecretary of Defense for Policy. (BTW - Ryan is the guy on the right holding the sample bomb piece, the other gentleman standing next to Ryan is the Secretary of the Air Force, Michael Wynne.)
You can read the full transcript of the DoD briefing here. This sounds quite disturbing - first the classified missile parts wind up in an unclassified facility, then they accidentally wind up being shipped to Taiwan! I’ll let the press briefing speak for itself - but it doesn’t give you that warm feeling inside to know that this stuff is just wandering around.
Of course my first thought was - “China!” China was notified of the shipment, Mr. Henry said.
“Our policy on Taiwan arm sales have not changed. This specific incident was an error in process only and is not indicative of our policies, which remain unchanged,” Henry said.
The fuses are housed in nose cones that are fitted to the warhead of a Minuteman intercontinental ballistic missile. They are used to ignite the trigger of a Mark-12 nuclear weapon, officials said.
